Bookkeeping Support for Psychologists & Other Health Practitioners

If your bookkeeping is the job that keeps getting pushed to the weekend, or the receipts and unreconciled payments keep piling up until BAS time, you don't have to keep trying to do it alone. Many practitioners do their own books late at night after a full day of sessions, and feel a little further behind each quarter.

Why Work With Moira?

Moira has over 20 years of bookkeeping experience, including for her own franchise businesses. For the past 4.5 years she has also been the VA for a psychology practice, working in Halaxy every day. She understands how practice income flows: daily Halaxy payments arriving as one batched deposit, Medicare and DVA pay runs, and how to match each one back to the right client invoice.

What’s Included in Bookkeeping for Psychology and Allied Health Practices?

  • Bank reconciliations, including matching Halaxy batch deposits to individual client payments

  • Reconciling Medicare, DVA, health fund and NDIS payments

  • Entering bills and receipts (if provided)

  • Accounts payable and receivable

  • Coding transactions where no tax interpretation is needed, or under a documented arrangement with your registered BAS or tax agent

  • Reports from your accounting software, such as profit and loss

  • Catch-up work if your books have fallen behind

  • Records prepared and ready for your accountant or BAS agentPrice

  • Software: MYOB with Xero coming soon

What is Not Included in The Personalised VA’s Bookkeeping Services

Moira isn't a registered BAS agent. She doesn't prepare or lodge BAS, give GST or tax advice, process payroll or Single Touch Payroll that involves interpreting tax law, or calculate superannuation. Your registered BAS agent or accountant looks after these. She doesn't set up new accounting software, and she doesn't make payments on your behalf unless you agree in writing.

Who is This Service Suitable for

Psychologists, counsellors, social workers and other health practitioners in solo or small practices, with up to three practitioners, anywhere in Australia. It best suits practices that use Halaxy, have an accountant or BAS agent to lodge their BAS, and want their books kept up to date by someone who already understands how a health practice is paid.

Price

Ongoing bookkeeping is a fixed monthly fee, invoiced in advance and based on $75 an hour. Moira quotes it after reviewing your books, so you know the cost upfront. If your books are behind, catch-up work is quoted separately.
